C Minor Jazz Blues Simplest Changes: soloing 1 | Print |  E-mail
In this series of (Jazz guitar) lessons we will learn to improvise / solo over the changes of the C minor blues. We will use the C minor pentatonic scale as a "starting point" or first layer and add more notes/ layers as the lessons evolve.

First you will use the C minor pentatonic scale in 8th position throughout the whole score. Exept  that we  will immediately add a 2nd layer.

This layer is the same C minor pentatonic scale, plus the Blue Note (Gb or F #) AND minus the note G.

This 2nd layer ONLY covers the Ab7 chord! So: play the C minor pentatonic scale on all chords EXEPT the Ab7 chord!

Do not use the blue note other than on the Ab7 chord. DO use the blue note on that Ab7, preferably on the 1st beat of that chord! It beautifullly outlines the  "chord change" at that point!
